What are we changing for the Service Design Week and Day 2026?

In this article I share why we decided to bring many Service Design Chapters during the Swiss Service Design Week 2026 and why we're moving the Swiss Service Design Day 2026 near Lucerne.

It's now one week after the end of the Swiss Service Design Week 2025. During that week we hosted, through the Swiss Service Design Network, everyday an inspiration for Service Design enthusiasts.

With the small team organizing these events, we decided to re-do them next year. But obviously with a few changes.

Swiss Service Design Week 2026: SDN Chapters

The biggest change that we'll make to the remote events that happen before the Swiss Service Design Day, that happens on June first, is who we'll invite as guests.

In 2025 we picked individuals we found inspiring. In 2026, we've picked instead Service Design Network Chapters from around the world.

This will help us have the days before the Service Design Day, to be a celebration of the international Service Design community.

Swiss Service Design Day 2026: near Lucerne at HSLU

In 2025 we had a lovely Swiss Service Design Day at Le Salon by Franz&René. That location was perfect with multiple tiny spaces that allowed people to spread out through the day, and the garden was just perfect for the potluck lunch.

But we had really limited spots. And we had many people who wanted to come but couldn't because the spots were limited.

In 2026, we'll continue to have a family-reunion-like format, but we believe that we can still get a few more people in the event while maintaining this quality.

So we need a bigger space. And that's why we asked the lovely folks of HSLU, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts if they would accept to host us. And they said yes!

As I'm now a co-lead for the Master Service Design of the HSLU this feels like a natural thing to do.

The beauty of doing it at HSLU is that we have more flexibility in the number of people who come. And still we get to have some tiny spaces, and outdoor spaces that are lovely.

Who's the "we"?

Usually I write in a "I" form, but it's a pleasure that these events are made by multiple people, Juliana is really the co-organizer and lead for the on-site event, Emmanuel is the original instigator, and Valentina and Nils are great supporters.

Thanks to them for making these crazy events happen again in 2026!
