How can an organisation come out from climate anxiety and paralysis?
Thatโs what we chatted about with Haley Anderson in an interview for my next book on how to create services that serve both humans and nature.
Haley is a Climate Change Project Coordinator at ICLEI (ikli) Canada which is part of a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development.
With Haley we uncovered 11 early Service Design Principles that can help organisations and people overcome climate anxiety. Here are my five favourites:
Climate change creates one of the best briefs for creative work
Use the seven generations philosophy: learn from seven generations before, and think about the impact your work has for the next seven generations
Be active for the planet but donโt be a dick to humans because of it.
Donโt strive for 100% sustainability. Do it imperfectly but consistently.
Donโt work alone: bring in, find, or create community.
Thanks so much to Haley for this lovely conversation.
