Here a message from my mate Marc Fonteijn who runs the Service Design Show and is doing some great community work with the Global Salary Report:

Ever wondered if you're getting paid what you're worth... The Global Service Salary Report is back again to help you find out.

For the last four years, this report has empowered service design professionals to make better-informed career decisions and confidently negotiate their salaries.

It also provides much needed data to foster transparency and advance the maturity of our field as a whole.

Some facts about the report:

• It has been used by over 20.000 people since its launch in 2021 🤯

• In 2024, we added data from over 1300 professionals in 50+ countries.

• Last year, the average global salary satisfaction score was a 7.0/10.

• Only 46% of the participants had an "official" service design job title!

I've heard from many that they have successfully leveraged the report to negotiate better compensation, while companies have used it to establish competitive and honest salaries for new hires.

How to prepare, run and create the report of a co-creative workshop?

That’s the question that the first-year Service Design practitioners of the Master Service Design of the HSLU, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts,  explored today. This exploration is part of the series on « Leading Conversations ».

To do this, the students followed a « Learning by teaching » approach: shared learnings from reading material, shared personal tips from experience and practice, and all of it through practical exercises following the following questions:

• How do you prepare a workshop?

• What low-fidelity prototyping methods can you use to run a co-creative workshop?

• How do you make a report for a co-creative workshop?

In this blog article you’ll find all the details about this approach, will get access to the reading material used, and even get the slide decks that the learners created for their « learning by teaching » moments.

We hope this helps and inspires others who are teaching Service Design.
