A 3x Swiss Approach to Digital Services.
my tiny (very biased) book review.

I really like how in the book "The Digital Shift in Organizations: Challenges, Risks and Opportunities" Magali Dubosson and my mate Emmanuel Fragnière offer a very Swiss perspective when it comes to technology, digital and AI.

Swiss because the book manages well to avoid the too optimistic technology perspective of

"Technology is awesome and is always progress!"

and the too pessimistic perspective of

"AI sucks and will kill us all".

Their very Swiss approach is to explore both sides, and to stay in the messy gray zone where "it depends". Magali and Manu describe well what we can do as Service Design professionals to design digital experiences that are inclusive and ethical.

The book is also very Swiss as it has plenty of examples and data that comes from Switzerland and Europe. So it's not another US based technology perspective book, but one that also takes into account the local perspective.

The book is also very Swiss in how it's based on the voices of the people affected by the digital shifts. The citizens, the consumers, the employees. They've intereviewed tons of people to inform this book. Not just digital transformation coaches, gurus and leaders. But people on the ground who have to live with the digital services.

And yes this review is deeply biased because I have a deep affection for Manu one of the authors of the book and because I came from Switzerland.

Yet, I still believe that this book is a very good read for any Service Design professional who has to include digital aspects in his work, which today is most of us.

As a last note, it was a pleasure to finish this book during a weekend in Wallis, near to the HES-SO Valais-Wallis where Emmanuel has brought a human perspective of Service Design to so many people.
