What is this and why did I create it?
Hi there!
What is this?
In here you'll find two things within one digital whiteboard built with Canva:
A two hour workshop template to help you out figure out key components of your brand and service identity. This workshop can be run both remotely or on-site.
A 45 minutes homework that explains the key concepts of the three exercises that make the workshop, that the workshop participants can explore before the workshop to be fully prepared.
As often, I didn't re-invent the wheel. Instead I've bundled some of the best tools I've either discovered or created over the years in a workshop format. Here are the three tools:
Brand Deck by Scott Thomas: Scott is one of the guys that worked on the iconic Obama branding that got him elected the first time. And the Brand Deck is Scott's method to help new brand or service define their key characteristics in a playful way.
Fivelightbulbs Framework by Billy Broas: Billy is a genius copywriting expert that has helped many service creators explain their service ideas in a human centered way. He is one of the guys that has helped people like Ali Abdaal, Tiago Forte or David Perell have such clear storytelling for their online courses. The Fivelightbulbs Framework is a tool that gives you the key components of the story that convinces customers that your service is valuable for them.
Service Role Canvas by Romain Pittet and myself: If you don't know me yet, I'm a Service Design educator and my mate Romain is the greatest storyteller I had the chance to work with until now. The Service Roles Canvas helps you define the personality of your service by imagining if it was a human what job or role it would have.
Why did I build this?
I've created this tiny template as I was preparing a branding workshop for a dear friend of mine (she will recognize herself when she reads this). As I was preparing this workshop, I figured out that there were a few context information that my friend could watch at home at her own speed before the workshop.
This would allow her to prepare herself, and it would make it possible to do a full workshop in just two hours as the key concepts are already clear before the workshop starts.
As I gathered it all in the workshop whiteboard I figured out:
What if I shared this template not just with her but also with other practitioners?
So that's how this the template for the 2 hour branding workshop were born. If you end up using it, say a big thank you to Deirdre for inspiring me to do this without knowing it.
How to use this course and template
If you are the client, you can just check the sections that have the title "Homework" in the Canva template. These sections give you all the key informations before the service branding workshop that you'll experience.
If you are the facilitator of the branding workshop, then check for sure the "Homework" section of the Canva template to fully understand the key concepts of the workshop. Then explore the rest of the template to prepare your workshop.
Greetings from Switzerland,
