In short: Having one clear priority simplifies decision-making and reduces frustration. For each season of your life, or each area of your life have one clear priority.

The Power of One Priority

Priority is singular. You can't do everything in life, so you have to choose. Be very clear on what is most important to you. Focus on that one thing and do it right. When faced with choices, knowing your single priority makes decisions easier. Many people get frustrated because they treat priority as if it's plural. But you can't serve many kings; you can only serve one.

Seasons of Life

Life has many seasons, each with its own priority. For this season, my priority is being present for my kid. That means writing for him and being there when he's sick, even if it means canceling work. If I had multiple priorities, I'd try to juggle everything, leading to frustration. Clear priorities mean putting the most energy into one thing, making a big difference.

The Garden Analogy

Imagine having a huge garden but just one bucket of water. If you give a drop to every plant, none will survive the drought. But if you use the bucket for one tree, it will grow and provide shade for future seasons. It's the same with priorities.

Family Choices

We also make choices about who we consider family. Not everyone can be part of it. For those who are, we'll do everything and be there no matter what when it really matters. When the priority is clear, we will be there.
