A Service Design principle for change that feels human
I was talking with Christian community leaders about a research project. There was one sentence that came again and again out of the mouth of these leaders. It was something like: "It is the first year you arrive in a new community. Don't bring big change, instead show that you value what and who is. already there".
When the new boss arrives, you ask yourself: "Is this someone who will just do what he wants, or will he build on what we've already done?". When you take some time at the start of a new collaboration to recognise the great work and people that are there, you help people answer this question.
Action question
How can you first build the relationships before you bring and push change somewhere?
