Whenever I chat with my colleagues who are experts in Eco-Social Design work, they push for this mindset shift:
We should move from sustainability to regeneration.
Said in a down to earth language: We should stop trying to make things less shitty for the planet, for example by using less resources. Instead we should focus our energy on leaving things in a much better place than we found them.
This mindset shift is really hard because it forces us to think very differently. To be honest, I almost didn't include it in this book because I usually stick to down-to-earth stuff you can implement right now. But I've kept it for now as I feel it helps us better understand many of the other principles that you'll find in this book.
Where in your service or work are you just trying to make things a little less worse?
This is the first shitty draft of this principle
This principle might one day make it in the fifth book in the "Service Design Principles" series that explores how to better serve humans and the planet.
If you're curious about service design principles, you can get the four previous books in the series, with proofread principles and less grammatical creativity.

This principle draft is based on an audio note I took while walking that was transcribed and cleaned using Audiopen. I then reviewed and improved the text by hand.
