What do I include in a workshop report website?

What do I include in a workshop report website?

For some workshops where the end results have to be shared with a wider community I love to create a website for the workshop report instead of a presentation.

Here a few of the elements I love to include in such workshop report websites:

  • Teaser of the results in video with a decision maker or workshop organizer

  • Results of the workshop

  • Explanation of the results in text and video

  • Atmosphere of the workshop with photos or videos

  • Testimonials of the participants with videos or text

  • Contact person with direct contact possibility

Let’s dive in the details:

Teaser of the results

When possible I like to shoot a tiny video interview with the workshop organizer or decision maker where that person gives a summary of the workshop results, share a few words about the process and next steps and finishes with an encouraging call to action.

I feel that a video of a person that is well know is a good emotional start for such a report website.

I prefer to shoot that video right after the workshop because:

  • it’s easier to ask someone to stay half an hour longer that to book a new schedule later

  • People are still in the mood and energy of the event and are very enthusiastic on camera

  • People have still all the results in their memory.

To shoot such a video I simply do it with my smartphone and that already good enough. Better done than perfect but not done.

Results

Obviously on a workshop report website it’s important to showcase the key results of the workshop.

Explanation of the results

As the website will be visited by people who haven’t followed the workshop it’s smart to explain those results.

I like to do that in a written form that I then also sometimes turn in a animated video where the voice over is based on the text and on screen we show the results that the voice over explains.

Atmosphere

When the workshops results are shared to people who know the workshop participants it can be nice to showcase how the workshop participants worked together.

I like to do this with a selection of photos made during the workshop.

Testimonials

I love to ask at the end of a big workshop to a few participants the following question:

What’s one thing that you particularly loved in the workshop process or results?

To capture those answers I like to shoot 30 seconds testimonial videos with my smartphone. It’s nice because you see the emotion of the participants.

These testimonials show that a diverse group of people was involved and that a diverse group of people already supports the results.

Contact person

A website is really the start of a communication campaign. Therefore it’s nice to not only communicate to people but also give the opportunity to people to communicate back by asking questions, sharing thoughts or asking for help.

I like to not have a generic form but rather to show the contact person for this project and give a chance to get in touch directly with this person.
