With Whom Should I Test the Prototypes Coming Out of the Design Sprint?

In short: Test the results of your design sprint with:

  • 5 end users

  • 5 key decision makers

  • 5 workers

Extend the Testing Phase

In a typical Design Sprint, you only have Friday to test the results. But in my experience, especially for services, it's valuable to have a longer test phase. I prefer splitting the Design Sprint into two sets of two days, with weeks or even months of testing in between.

Go beyond end users

This extended period allows me to test the prototypes not just with end users but also with decision makers and key stakeholders within the organization. Plus, it's crucial to involve workers who will implement and maintain the service.

By covering both front-stage users and back-stage decision makers and workers, you get more comprehensive information. This approach helps you understand not just user desirability but also organizational feasibility.
