In short: A Design Sprint can be as cheap as 300 $ or CHF if you do everything internally or as expensive as 22'1000 $ or CHF if you do it in a retreat-like location with everything paid for the participants and with an external facilitator.

Four Design Sprint rough budgets

After writing about the hidden costs of a Design Sprint I quickly made four rough budgets to show how these hidden costs play together. In my own practice, I'm usually within the "Well organized" budget.

The cost effective: 300 $ or CHF

A Design Sprint done remotely or in your existing office where people already work and are used to bring in their lunch.

• No renting of space, use existing meeting rooms

• People bring their lunch

The well organized: 2'675 $ or CHF

A Design Sprint organized in your office but you pay for the lunch of participants and get help from an external agency to recruit test participants.

• No renting of space, use existing meeting rooms

• Simple lunch: 15 bucks per person: 375 bucks for a 5 day sprint for 12 people

• People sleep at home

• Gifts for experts and participants: 150 bucks

• Workshop material : 150 bucks

• Recruiting of test participants: 2k

• Internal facilitator

The all inclusive: 9'500 $ or CHF

A Design Sprint in a retreat-like location, like a Monastery, where food, travel expenses and everything is paid for the participants.

• Renting of a space with breakfast, lunch, dinner and personal rooms: 100 bucks per person if done in a Monastery like this one: 6000 bucks for a 5 day sprint for 12 people

• Gifts for experts and participants: 150 bucks

• Workshop material : 150 bucks

• Recruiting of test participants: 2k

• Travel expenses: 100 bucks per person: 1200 bucks for 12 people

• Internal facilitator

The done for you: 22'1000 $ or CHF

A Design Sprint organized by an external facilitator with all inclusive for your participants.

• Same as the all inclusive: 9'500 bucks

• External facilitator: 12'600: 5 days of sprint + 2 days of preparation at 1'800 bucks per day
