Triangulation

Triangulation

What is it?

Triangulation in research refers to using multiple methods or sources to confirm or validate something you learned. By using different methods and sources, you can get a deeper understanding and make sure that what you’ve learned isn’t just a random story that applies to one person.

How can I apply this?

  • Use multiple research methods

  • Speak with multiple people and don't focus just on one expert

  • Mix quantitative and qualitative research methods

In my course "What is the Service Designer Mindset?" I wrote a lesson about triangulation called "Service designers verify what they have learned from different angles"
