The myth of creativity

The myth of creativity

Yeah that's all good Daniele, but I'm not creative. I've hear this numerous of times. And you know what? There are plenty of reasons why this fear doesn't matter.

We are all creative but...

In a book about Creative Confidence the author explains that there is no word for creativity in Tibetan. The closest translation is natural. I take that as an inspiration that reminds us that creativity is something that is embedded in our nature. Chimps can be creative by using tools to get food. And I'm sure that you are more creative than a chimp.

You unlearned creativity...

Dr. George Land and Dr. Beth Jarman created a test to measure creativity to help the NASA find the most brillant people to employ. Here a summarized version of this story that I first heard in this wonderful 20 minutes Ted Talk

They tested  1,600 children between 4-5 years. 98% of them scored at genius level

They tested it then on old kids. In grade school only 30% of kids were considered creative geniuses. In high  school? 12%.

When they tested adults, they found that less than 2% of the adults tested were creative geniuses.

What does it mean for you?
Basically you unlearned creativity. But that's a good news!

fortunately, creativity can be learned

Creativity is a process that can be taught, it follows a set of rules, surely weird rules, but never the less rules. So it's something that can be taught. In this course I'll give you multiple technics that help even the less creative person to generate a few ideas.
