How can you get more easily in flow when writing?

In this tiny article I share why writing out loud can put you in a flow and make your text easier to read for others.

Writing can sometimes be a pretty hard thing. As this week I was doing a writing retreat and had at times a hard time getting back into writing there was one tiny tip that worked really well, again and again.

Saying out loud what you are about to write.

This has two really nice effects.

It puts you in a flow

Strangely by saying out loud what you write, you're less in your head. You get in a sort of flow, where the next words come automatically. Maybe that's because it feels like speaking to a friend, and usually when we do that, we don't stop awkwardly in the middle of a sentence and re-say it twenty times with other words.

It makes your text easier

I have a writing style that I really love, which is a more oral like writing style. With plain simple words. No big complex academic words or complex sentences. By saying out loud what you'll write you automatically use simpler words, simpler sentences. Again, I imagine this comes from the fact that it's like having a conversation with a friend. With friends you don't speak like an academic paper.
