Minimal Assumption Map (Notion Template)

Verify what you think you know in order to not fuck up your research

Make sure that you really know what you think you know

This template built in Notion helps you make sure that you really double check your assumptions and that you don't get biased by your personality and your cultural traits

Here is how the template works

This is a simple template built in Notion that you can adapt to your preferences. The template asks you a set of three questions:

1. Verify what you think you know

It's rare that we are 100% sure about what we believe we know. The template helps you list these assumptions and asks you then how you'll confirm this assumption.

2. Explore what you definitely don't know shit about

That's the simplest question: what is it about this project that you don't know? The template asks you to list these elements and then think about how you'll find an answer to those doubts.

3. Make sure you will not bias every piece of data

Research and innovation can be really biased by our own personality traits and our cultural background. The template asks you to list these traits and think about how you could reduce these biases in your project.

It's not just about you but also about what stakeholders assume

The same three questions are adapted so that you can make sure assumptions and biases of the stakeholders you are working with will also be in check.
