How do you evaluate a coaching session?
My two cents
Often, at the end of each session, I ask the individual what positive changes he has experienced, what new emotions he feels, or what he feel we have achieved together.
The person usually comes up with a few ideas, such as feeling "more confident" or "having a clearer plan of action".
Then, I ask them to rate on a scale of one to ten how the person feels about a particular aspect before and after the coaching session. For example, I might ask:
How confident were you in your abilities before the session? How confident do you feel now?
Because I suck at math, I then use the website percentagecalculator.net, to transform these two numbers into a percentage of improvement.
This number is not important to me, even if it's pretty nice for my ego, but it is valuable for the person to see their progress in a tangible way. In a world where numbers are emphasized, this puts a number on the work they have done for themselves.
