In depth guide
Some lovely people from Design Flanders and Namahn have created an in-depth guide called Public Service Design A Guide for the Application of Service Design in Public Organizations.
It's an 88 page document that has everything you want in it. It covers questions like: What is Service Design? How do I commission Service Design work? How do I do the Service Design work and which tools methods, processes and dangers, I have to consider. How can I elevate if the process is working well? And it even gives you further resources like case studies and books to read.
Gov.UK Service Manual
Another manual that you should look into is their Service Manual from the gov.uk team.
It's a companion to the Service Standard that they have developed.
It covers topics like accessibility and assisted digital, measuring success, the team, Agile delivery, service assessment and applying the service standard, user research, design and technology.
The School of Good Services
If I speak of the UK government, I have to speak about The School of Good Services, because Lou who is one of the co-founders was the former director of design for the UK government and grew a team of about 2000 designers.
Which is really gigantic.
The school of good services offers trainings, a great book and even practical tools like The Good Service Scale.
Observatory of Public Sector Innovation
Another organization to know is The Observatory of Public Sector Innovation.
You'll find a guide that gives a good introduction for Service Design in public services.
And if you are a curious one, they have plenty of links to processes, case studies and more.
Blogs
If you're more into small articles, there are two blogs that you should definitely read.
The first one is the one of the blog of the government digital service from gov.uk.
And the second one is the blog of the School of Good Services.

And if you want a bit of an outsider perspective about Service Design in the public sector, the team at Deloitte has created a 16 page document called Service Design in Government: how design thinking principles can both serve mission effectiveness, productivity and customer satisfaction.
SD in Gov Conference
Finally after all that reading, you might want to meet real people. For that, you should go to the SD in gov conference, which is short for Service Design in Government.
It's a yearly conference that happens over three days.
