My two cents
Gear doesn’t matter as much for a service designer as it does for architects or video producers who need powerful machines.
A laptop, a few sticky notes, and a pen are already a good enough toolbox for a service designer.
Personally, I have a now 5-year-old entry-level MacBook Pro and an iPhone. The iPhone helps me to get photos and videos during my workshop, and all of my work is done on my MacBook.
